Where’s My Package?!

Image result for cartoon image of someone tearing hair outVillage resident’s packages are frequently left at the sales office. This happens because the recipient put the clubhouse address on the package. FedEx and UPS do not deliver to the Clubhouse. In addition, both FedEx and UPS frequently hand packages off to the United States Postal Service.

In order to avoid delays in receiving packages from FedEx and UPS, please use your physical address for those deliveries.  In the event that UPS or FedEx passes your package to the United States Postal Service for delivery, it will be left in one of the package boxes that are located with the mail boxes outside the clubhouse. If the package is to large for the package box, you might be required to go to the post office to pick it up.

The sales office is not manned 24/7 so your package could easily disappear. In addition, the sales team doesn’t always know how to find a resident. Your cooperation in using your physical address when the shipper will be FedEx or UPS is greatly appreciated. It will save you heartburn, angst and hours of trying to find where that package landed.

  1. The biggest reason causing this problem is because the mailboxes do not match our physical address is for each lot. I have traveled all across the United States this is the only resort where appropriate mailboxes are not provided for each resident at their address so that mail and packages can be delivered to the same address. This matter needs to be considered seriously. The way it is now is very confusing we should not be paying for monthly dues and still have to go to the post office to pick up mail or packages. Linda Smith at 2131 Hanging Tree Trail which is my physical address and should be my mailbox number. Please consider this change.

    1. The post office required that the mail be delivered to a central location. The clubhouse was chosen for obvious reasons. The post office knows which mailbox numbers go with each street address. There is no confusion on their part.

I have a home in Pinetop and one in Scottsdale. Mail is not delivered to either of these homes. There are central mail boxes at both. They do not correlate with my street address at either. One is box 43 and the other is box 12. However, I do get my mail delivered to the correct box at each home because the postal carrier knows which box is associated with my address.

Your monthly dues have nothing to do with your mail delivery. You pay a yearly fee to rent a box at the clubhouse. You have the option of renting a box at the post office.

  3. That’s good advice, but if you order from Amazon you never know how they will ship, and they can’t tell you. It’s very frustrating having 2 addresses. Never encountered that before. Wherever I have lived we had mail boxes at our residence.

    1. I wasn’t advocating moving mailboxes or putting one at everything single site .
The mailboxes can remain at the clubhouse in a central location however the numbers associated with those mailbox’s should be our physical addresses. The rows of mailboxes could be sorted possibly by street names and then the address numbers along the street rows. Because of your post to all of us about mail left where it’s not supposed to be, and my personal experiences with the difficulty in packages being transferred over to the post office for delivery, tells me that the current situation is not working and we should try to come up with ideas to fix it.

  4. I agree with Linda Smith. If the regular mail carrier is delivering she will usually go out of her way to locate the recipient but if there’s a sub, mail can end up either in the wrong box, left on the bench in front of the clubhouse, or taken back to the P.O. It helps somewhat to go to UPS and give them both addresses so they can cross reference.

  5. Another reason to have the same address for our mail as our lot is for packages that are supposed to be delivered by FedEx or UPS to our physical address and then those packages are handed off to the post office for delivery because of the contract that they have with the post office . I have waited for the delivery of a package that ended up at the post office and almost got sent back because it took so long for me to find out where the package was . 6. Liz, thank you for this article as we are new to the community and figuring out mail; HOMACO could not give me a definite answer white the SL PO told me to write both our lot # in WMVV and our physical address To be clear, regular mail will be sent to our box address and if we order something that is shipped via Amazon, Fed Ex, or UPS, use our physical address and if the PO delivers the package, they know which mailbox lines ups with our physical address…is this correct? TIA
